Coming from the UK i am currently experiencing serious packet loss starting at hop:

|gnax.ge2-3.br01.atl01.pccwbtn.net - 62 | 172 | 66 | 93 | 122 | 328 | 109 |

I have tried this from two ISPs/locations with the same result. Is this a unixshell upstream provider or on my side?

Regards,
Matt.

A full trace is below, but rather badly formatted:

Hi there mate,

I'm no expert but the router the packet loss begins with does indeed appear to be the one you have specified.

If you want to see the stats of the router that has the problem then click here (http://routers.burtondns.net/public/209.51.130.8_gigabitethernet3_1.html) for the mtrg stats of that particular piece of kit.

Again, I'm no expert on datacentre network topology (perhaps someone else here can give you more idea - I am but a humble Windows Server tech in my day job!) but this appears to be a gigabit ethernet router, routing traffic from PCCW Global (http://www.btnaccess.com/) onto the GNAX (http://www.gnax.com/) network.

Your traffic seems to go through your ISP's gear in Manchester, through the LINX (London Internet Exchange) and then onto PCCW Global's network in the States, through some more routers to it's final destination at the GNAX data centre (where your VPS is hosted by Unixshell).

I'm also based in the UK however and don't seem to be having any packet loss when pinging the PCCW Global router to be honest. Have you tried again? Perhaps it was an intermittant problem.
