View Full Version : Bootable virtual "CD"

I think it would be a good idea to be able to boot the virtual machine off a virtual CD like Knoppix or DamnSmallLinux. When booted you can access it using the virtual ssh console and do some repair, recovery or forensic work.

Of course the Xen Kernel used for this needs to know a few tricks like UnionFS, if one chooses to try Knoppix, while e.g. DamnSmallLinux still uses a RAM-Based root and symlinks into a loopback-mounted read-only FS.

Provided the swap-partition can be activated during bootup, even under a "The 32" system reasonable work can be done.

Another secret unleashed: We will have a "recover" method that mounts a loaded Debian or Fedora distro with lots of tools and then it mounts your root fs as /rescue for you.
