user+extendedinfo@example.tld is a perfectly valid address format.
(And will, in the end, be delivered to user@example.tld - the +extendedinfo just assists in routing and tracing)
I hate poorly written form data verification code. Though when it's javascript... it can easily be disabled - I hope your back end isn't as poorly written.
Update: I recieved all the proper account sign up related e-mail to my supposedly invalid address.
