I am new to Linux and want to use Webmin since it is closest to true Unix administration.

I have done some research and it seems that Debian 3.1 or Ubuntu 5.04 have old versions of Webmin in their repositories and while the process of setting up Webmin 1.20 is not that complicated it would be nice to have it on an image.

If I cannot get one directly, can I buy a 2nd snapshot to use as my main "image" to reload from?

The reason I ask is, I am new... and will need to restore a few (100x) times!

Hi,

Why not do the snapshot yourself? You only need to do that painful stuff in the CLI once... Install your machine from scratch and log in using the instructions sent to you in your welcome email. Then download the .rpm file for webmin (instructions at http://www.webmin.com/download.html) and install it as per the instructions on that page.

Once that is done, do a snapshot and you're sorted. I would suggest that you spend some time getting used to using the CLI though - webmin is useful, but the CLI is more useful.

Cheers

Additional snapshots can be purchased for $5/mo/ea.

Does this mean that I have to pay $5 per month PER Snapshot?

It's $5/month per unique snapshot 'slot' - which is pretty good considering how much disk space they can take up. You can backup to / restore from that 'slot' as often as you like at no extra cost.

(Matt - correct me if I'm wrong?)

Yes, it is $5/mo per additional snapshot.
