GNAX network outages

This network has more DDoS attacks than there are grains of sand on the beach. Are they planning to get hold of more bandwidth or do some prioritizing? Can anyone at Unixshell push against them some? This is a constant issue.

I've seen usage on my VM spike upward to 10-20 or more several times. Right now, I have trn trying to post something, but it's been stuck for several minutes after an edit. Maybe there are some steps I can take within the VM to mitigate the effects of a DDoS, but it'd be nice to not be on a network that appears to be a magnet for the kiddies.
