I was surprised to see postgresql already installed with debian testing. I was even *more* surprised to see log entries in:

/var/log/postgresql/postgres.log

going back to

1/2005-01-25 01:27:55 [14409] LOG: could not create IPv6 socket: Address family n
ot supported by protocol
2005-01-25 01:27:55 [14418] LOG: database system was interrupted at 2005-01-10
17:22:16 EST
2005-01-25 01:27:55 [14418] LOG: checkpoint record is at 0/9CBF30

which is before I opened my account on 4/5/2005 with unixshell.com!!!

Any ideas? Are these necessary for the Teknic front end or the vm?

Thanks.

The images are built on a central host... an 'install' of the distro is not done every time does a reload, it simply copies an image over. Over time some log dates may seem very old due to this.

If you don't want all the cruft use the minimal version of the distro, I believe Debian requires PostgreSQL and squid for one of it's package sets.
